Actor Suniel Shetty’s darling daughter and piece of heart, Athiya, got married to the love of her life, international cricketer and Indian Test cricket team’s vice-captain, KL Rahul, at a private ceremony on the 23rd of January in the presence of close friends and family members.
The wedding planning was done by Rani Pink Love who took great care to ensure that the decor of the whole place matched the theme, colour scheme and nature of each ritual and ceremony.
There was a pre-wedding puja that was arranged under a huge tree at the venue, and the fragrant white jasmine and mogra flower strings hung from the branches perfectly supplemented the predominantly white theme chosen for the graceful ceremony.
The haldi ceremony was also held at the same venue with the stunning Khandala hills in the background. Here, the chosen theme was a blooming marigold garden with layers of yellow from floor to ceiling and natural yellow as the preferred colour palette for obvious reasons.
Athiya was all smiles on the day of her wedding. She looked fabulous in her blush pink chikankari embroidered lehenga by Anamika Khanna. The lehenga was teamed with a semi-sheered dupatta with an uneven hemline.
The beautiful actress accessorised her gorgeous bridal outfit with a heavy stone-studded choker necklace, matching dangling earrings and a maang teeka.
On the other hand, Rahul beautifully complemented Athiya with his stunning ivory-coloured chikankari kurta also designed by Anamika Khanna that had a majestic embroidered long overcoat to contribute to its regalness. He wore a kingly layered emerald necklace to complete his wedding look.
The entire event was captured on frames by celebrity photographer and Athiya’s friend, Rohan Shrestha. The very private ceremony was attended by close friends from both Athiya and Rahul’s respective social and work circles and their relatives.
It is known that the wedding ceremony was attended by actors like Diana Penty, Krishna Shroff, and Anshula Kapoor and while cricketers Varun Aaron and Ishant Sharma graced the occasion with their families. Athiya’s father Suniel Shetty and the entire family made the paparazzi happy by posing outside the venue for photographs once the wedding rituals and ceremonies were complete.
Suniel Shetty confirmed to the media that an elaborate wedding reception would be held after the IPL season is over. Athiya and Rahul’s wedding immediately made news headlines not only because of their celebrity status, but also because of the expensive gifts the gorgeous couple received.
Athiya’s father Suniel Shetty reportedly gifted a flat worth a whopping Rs.50 crore to the couple. The one and only Salman Khan gifted the couple an expensive Audi car worth Rs.1.64 crore, while Rahul’s friend, team India captain and star cricketer, Viraat Kohli, gifted the couple a BMW worth Rs.2.17 crore.
The list doesn’t end here. It is learnt that actor Arjun Kapoor, who is Athiya’s close friend, gifted the actress a diamond bracelet worth Rs.1.5 crore. And India’s World Cup-winning former captain, MS Dhoni gifted the couple a Kawasaki Ninja bike worth Rs.80lakhs.
