Parineeti Chopra Wraps Up Imtiaz Ali Directorial 'Chamkila
Famous Punjabi singer, actor and songwriter, Diljit Dosanjh teamed up for the first time with director Imtiaz Ali to play the lead role in a movie that depicts the real life story of the singer of the masses and the most popular Punjabi rockstar ever, Amar Singh Chamkila.
The film, which is going to be released worldwide on Netflix in 2024, promises to tell the story of the highest record selling artist from Punjab who along with his singing partner and wife, Amarjot, faced a tragic death in the hands of unknown assailants in the late 1980s.

Their murder mystery remains unsolved till today. Regarded as one of the finest live stage performers in India, Amar Singh, was also fondly called the ‘Elvis of India.’
In the movie, Diljit changes his appearance to look as much close to the legendary singer as possible. Also, actress Parineeti Chopra pairs up with Diljit, playing the role of the popstar’s wife, Amarjot.
The musical score for the movie is being prepared by none other than the living legend, A.R Rahman.
Diljit seemed pretty upbeat about the movie, expressing his gratitude to Imtiaz in front of the media after the official teaser was released today.
He thanked the ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Rockstar’ director for trusting him with the titular role and said it was indeed a challenging experience to play the character of the iconic singer.
Talking about the movie, director Imtiaz Ali said that the movie required some live singing from the lead actor, and Diljit perfectly fitted the role as per requirement.
He also praised Parineeti for getting to the skin of the character she plays in the movie. For Parineeti, it was an immense learning experience working with Diljit, Imtiaz and A. R Rahman.
